Small Narration is a video installation first shown at the Contemporary Art Centre Zamek Ujazdowski in Warsaw in 2017. However, it has a much longer previous history as a performance. It had its Polish premiere (Mała narracja) at the Teatr Studio in Warsaw on 20 March 2010. It was selected as part of the showcase of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute of the best Polish performances of 2010, and for the Polska Arts programme in Edinburgh in 2012. It was also translated into French and staged independently at La Bellone, Brussels. The English translation of the text was published in 2012 as part of the contemporary Polish theatre anthology (A)Pollonia by University of Chicago Press.

Wojtek Ziemilski is a theatre director and visual artist. He creates works straddling the respective limits of theatre, visual arts and choreography. He graduated from the theatre directing course at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2017, he won the main award at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel and the main award at the Fast Forward Festival in Dresden, for the show One Gesture. He teaches (currently at the Warsaw Theatre Academy and the University of Warsaw) contemporary approaches to theatre making, with a particular focus on devising techniques, the new dance’s (so-called “non-danse”) input into theatricality, and the use of fact on stage. He is artist in residence at the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw and is represented by the BWA Warszawa gallery.
